Utilizing Innovative Methodology in Education: An Evaluation Procedure for Laboratory Development Amenable to Subsequent Lea Implementation DecisionsOregon State University
A method for evaluating the effectiveness of innovative school programs as a function of well defined school objectives is developed. The same procedures are amenable to program development as well as implementation stages. LEAs can use the same framework as educational researchers developing a program when evaluating the effectiveness of new school programs on the basis of program components. The evaluation method will enable LEA program implementors to sequentially adopt interdependent or multicomponent educational innovations should local needs or finance dictate that strategy. A numerical example of the evaluation methodology applied to a compensatory reading program is reported.
