Teachers Corner: A Note on Interpreting an R2 Value
Carl J. Huberty
University of Georgia
It is suggested that the standard traditional null hypothesis of 2 = 0 be reconsidered in favor of 2 = E(R2). The test of the latter hypothesis is discussed. Also discussed is an effect-size index that is the difference between an adjusted R2 and E(R2).
